A chance to ask the experts about Burnham-On-Sea's flood defences
Burnham-On-Sea
residents will have a chance to find out more about Somerset's
flood defences when the Environment
Agency holds an open meeting
in Brent Knoll next month.
The
Wessex Regional Flood Defence Committee is being held at the Battleborough
Grange Hotel, Brent Knoll on Monday October 2nd at 10.30am.
Topics
on the agenda include flood defence funding and targets, plus
a progress report on the dredging of the River Parrett.
Members
of the public will be able to raise issues relating to items on
the agenda, providing that questions are submitted in advance.
Individuals are then invited to speak for up to three minutes.
"We
hope anyone interested in flood defence matters will take up this
chance to ask questions in an open forum with a dedicated and
knowledgable audience," Mark Rice of the Environment Agency
told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Anyone
wishing to attend and submit a question should contact Sarah Harding
on 01392 442184 or by email sarah.harding@environment-agency.gov.uk
by 3.00pm on Friday September 29th 2006.
The
flood defence committee meets four times a year and members represent
local bodies including councils and the Department of Environment,
Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
