Burnham-On-Sea
fire
brigade to hold free
electric blanket testing event
Somerset County Council and Somerset Fire Brigade are encouraging
Burnham-On-Sea residents to get their electric blankets tested
at a free electric blanket testing event in the town.
Some
40% of all electric blankets are unsafe, according to the fire
service, making a check vital.
Burnham
residents will be able to receive free advice and have their blankets
tested from 9am-5pm on Friday 5th May at Burnham-On-Sea Fire Station
in Marine Drive.
To
make a booking call Somerset Direct on 0845 345 9188.
Cllr
Jim Mochnacz, Community Safety Portfolio Holder, said: "These
events provide a great opportunity for people to find out more
about fire safety and how they can minimise the risks in their
homes. This type of preventative work is essential in helping
to make Sedgemoor a safer place to live."
Community
Safety Officer, Chris Snook, added: "It's all free, so if
you or your elderly friends or relatives want their blankets tested
free book an appointment now."
As
the evenings start to warm up, the Fire Service is keen that residents
get blankets tested and understand how to properly store them.
