Burnham-On-Sea
firefighters tackle big barn blaze in Wedmore
Firefighters
from Burnham-On-Sea tackled a big barn blaze in Wedmore on Friday
morning (June 23rd).
Three
crews from Burnham, Cheddar and Wells plus support appliances
from Bridgwater and Street rushed to the fire near Bartletts Bridge,
Cocklake, Wedmore shortly after 5am.
A
spokesman for Avon and Somerset Fire Service told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"On arrival, we found a barn containing 75 tons of hay well
alight."
"The
fire was extinguished using two hose reel jets and allowing the
hay to burn off under control."
Both
the barn and its contents were completely destroyed during the
fire, leaving the owner with a big repair bill.
The
spokesman added: "The cause was deliberate ignition by persons
unknown."
