Burnham's
fundraising firewalkers earned £5,000 for Secret World
More
than £5,000 was raised for Secret World Wildlife Rescue
Centre from this week's fundraising firewalk, the charity said
on Saturday.
Earlier
this week, we reported how 28 people had walked across 20ft of
burning embers, with temperatures in excess of 1,200 degrees,
in order to raise cash for the local organisation.
"With
all participants having raised substantial sponsorship, and spectators
swelling proceeds by purchasing refreshments and making donations,
Secret World raised in excess of £5,000 during the evening,"
confirmed a delighted spokesman.
All
participants undertook a two hour training seminar under the guidance
of an experienced instructor before wowing the crowd with their
bravery.
Among
those taking part was local policeman Mark Curran. We have video
footage of the walkers in action here.
