Huge
fireworks 'launch pad' constructed on Burnham-On-Sea's jetty

This
huge platform sprouted up on Burnham-On-Sea's jetty on Saturday
(November 4th) as workmen made final preparations to use it as
the 'launch pad' for Sunday night's annual fireworks spectacular.
Workers
spent much of Saturday constructing the unusual structure - much
to the bemusement of some visitors.
But
the town's temporary new tourist attraction will be short-lived.
It will only be in place for 48 hours to be used as the launch
pad for hundreds of fireworks.
This weekend's display will be held at high tide and because the
beach will be submerged with sea water at the 7pm start time,
the platform has had to be constructed.
Fireworks
organiser Linda
Krause Davies from Sedgemoor District Council told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"All the fireworks will be moved out to the platform during
Sunday morning and afternoon and they will then be let off from
this special platform in the sea. It should be a very special
display."
"Not
only will the night sky be ablaze with colour and effects, but
all the aerial wizardry will be reflected in the sea to effectively
double the glittering spectacle."
The
fireworks will start at 7pm and last about 20 minutes. Read
more about the display here.
Burnham-On-Sea.com will offer live coverage of the fireworks
display through its seafront
webcam on Sunday night.
