People in Burnham-On-Sea are being invited to swap their old 2006 calendars for a brand new 2007 gnome-themed one during an eco-friendly calendar amnesty at Sanders Garden World next week.

Staff at the garden centre near Burnham will be hosting the amnesty from Thursday January 4th to Saturday January 6th to help the environment and encourage customers to recycle more in 2007.

The old calendars will be recycled as part of the centre’s on site recycling programme for which it won awards in 2006.

Peter Burks, Managing Director at Sanders Garden World (pictured), said: “We are hosting the calendar amnesty to give people a chance to start 2007 by helping the environment. We have 2,000 charity gnome calendars, which normally cost £9.99 each, up for grabs. People will be able to swap their old calendar for a new 2007 one, free of charge.”

“The charities that would normally benefit from the calendar sales will still receive a donation from the garden centre.”

Sanders Garden World launched a national competition to find the best-looking gnomes in the UK last year. The 12 gnomes all took part in professional photo shoots and their best images were used in the calendar!

Three thousand calendars were printed in November and 2,000 will be given away during the calendar amnesty.

The offer is limited while stocks last and one calendar is available per household and no cash alternatives will be given.
