Awards
handed over to Burnham-On-Sea Gateway Club winners
Scores
of Burnham-On-Sea people who suffer from various disabilities
received awards during Burnham
and Highbridge Gateway Club's annual presentation night on Thursday
(July 27th).
The
event, which included a barbecue, was held at the recently revamped
BAY Centre in Cassis Close.
More
than 60 people gathered to watch Burnham-On-Sea Rotary Club's
Alan Lovell and the Gateway Club's Chairman, Arthur
Thorogood, hand out ten awards.
The
Endeavour Shield, for outstanding achievement, was presented to
Brian Fox-Smith, while the award for fundraising went to Stuart
Robertson.
Table
tennis award winners were Matt Josling, Margaret Davis and Michelle
Dyer, while snooker awards were handed to John Hathaway and Michelle
Carlisle, and the dominoes winners were Sue Turner, Stephen Loader
and Rosie Vigar.
"Our
presentation night
is held every year at this time and shines the light on those
who have achieved so much during the last 12 months," said
Gateway Club chairman Arthur Thorogood. "It was a super evening."
Burnham
and Highbridge Gateway Club has been running for 27 years and
is open to anyone with disabilities. It meets every Thursday from
7.30-9.30pm. Volunteers
to help the organisation are also required.
