More than 35 Burnham-On-Sea people who suffer from learning difficulties boarded a coach for a summer holiday in Devon on Monday (June 12th).

Burnham and Highbridge Gateway Club has organised a five-day break to Seaton for 36 members and 17 staff.

“The annual getaway is held every year at this time to give mums, dads and carers a few days break – it’s good for everyone,” said Gateway Club chairman Arthur Thorogood.

District Council Deputy Chairman Dennis Davey joined Arthur and group leader Barabara Thorogood in waving off the excited group at the Burnham Area Youth Centre in Cassis Close on Monday morning.

Mr Thorogood said the group was looking forwards to the break and thanked Nick and Sheila Burden-Leahy of the Railway Inn for generously sponsoring the cost of the holiday for one of the trippers.
