A lively mixture of music, movement and colour swept onto Burnham’s seafront on Saturday (July 22nd) when 70 morris dancers performed in front of a large crowd.

The onlookers cheered on as the dancers performed a range of traditional routines dressed in colourful costumes.

A dozen morris dancing groups from across Britain are gathered in Somerset this week for the 308th ‘Meeting of the Morris Ring Of England’.

To mark the event, they are touring 20 local villages and towns over three days.

Burnham’s residents were entertained by four groups from East Surrey, North Kent, North Somerset and Birmingham.

Organiser Geoff King told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Lots of people turned out to welcome us here in Burnham. We had a great reception and everyone had a lot of fun.”

The group then got onto a specially commissioned bus to take them on to their next stop, Clevedon. Earlier in the day, they had performed in Bridgwater, Moorlynch, Ashcott and Street.
