Rebels speedway star breaks wrist in accident
One
of the leading members of Burnham-On-Sea's Somerset Rebels speedway
team may be out of action for at least a month after breaking
his wrist in an accident over the weekend.
Pavel
Ondrasik was involved in an accident on Saturday night at the
start of heat three of a Premier Trophy fixture at Rye House.
Ondrasik,
pictured, collided with two other speedway stars from the Rye
House team.
Although the fall looked innocuous enough, the 30 year old Czech
fell awkwardly causing damage to his wrist.
"Once the swelling has subsided Ondrasik will have an operation
on the wrist on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week, but initial
thoughts are that he will be in plaster for approximately a month,"
said Rebels spokesman Ian Belcher.
The
injury comes as a blow to the club so early in the season.
Rebels
co-promoter, Jo Lawson, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Pavel showed
at the match on Friday what an asset he could be for the club
this season, then this happens."
"At
this stage we are not sure whether we will sign a temporary replacement
or run with the rider replacement facility, a decision will be
made in the next few days in this respect."
