Picnic In The Park draws big crowds into Burnham-On-Sea
Sizzling
temperatures, cooling ice creams and superb music drew large crowds
to Burnham-On-Sea's Manor Gardens on Sunday afternoon (July 16th)
for the annual Picnic In the Park.
Dozens
of families gathered in the town's Manor Gardens to eat their
picnics and listen to a foot-tapping line-up of music.
Some
took advantage of the weather to top up their tans, while others
retreated to the cooling shade of the trees - just like Burnham's
Mayor and Mayoress, pictured below.
Among
the musicians at the event were Burnham's Jamie Lee, who wowed
the audience with five popular songs. He's hoping to release several
Christian-based songs over the next few months and was a hit with
the crowds.
Later,
the 18-strong Boulevard Swing group from Weston-super-Mare entertained
the audience with a 90-minute line-up of swing tunes and big band
music from the 1940s.
Picnic
In The Park is organised by CADS, the Burnham and Highbridge Cultural
Arts and Development Society.
The
group organises three or four free events a year for the benefit
of people in both towns.
Folk
In The Park was held earlier in the year and is helping to organise
September's FolkFest event, which will be held across Burnham-On-Sea.
