Motorist
injured in crash at motorway
services near
Burnham-On-Sea
A
BMW driver had a lucky escape when his car crashed into a ditch
at a motorway services near Burnham-On-Sea on Monday lunchtime.
The
man lost control of his vehicle while driving on the slipway into
the northbound Sedgemoor Services at around mid-day.
His
car ended up in a ditch running alongside the slipway and a fence
was also damaged, but he received "non life-threatening"
injuries, a police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Paramedics
took the man, who has not been named, to Weston General Hospital
by ambulance.
The
police spokesman said it was believed the casualty had been coming
off the motorway for medical reasons.
"It's
thought the man may have had a disorder, such as diabetes, and
was coming off the motorway to take medication or get help."
The
Highways Agency closed the sliproad for several minutes while
the vehicle was recovered.
