Nationwide
TV gems appeal after Highbridge jewellery discovery
Hundreds
of thousands of pounds of jewellery recovered from a travellers
site at Highbridge, near Burnham-On-Sea, appeared on the BBC1
show Crimewatch on Wednesday evening in a bid to trace
the owners.
The
jewellery was recovered during a warrant in Highbridge in August
last year.
Police
believe it may be stolen and some of the jewellery has been traced
back to nationwide jewellery shop robberies.
Avon
and Somerset Police has carried out enquiries all over the country
and are now appealing on national television for anyone who recognises
the jewellery to come forward.
Among
them is a £35,000 diamond ring and a £65,000 pair
of diamond earrings.
DC
Andrew Jones told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We are keen to trace
the owners of these valuable items some of them appear to be of
sentimental value and anyone who recognises should contact us."
Anyone
with information to DC Jones at the Serious Crime Group on 0845
4567000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
