Two
arrested after charity box is stolen from Burnham-On-Sea shop
Two
people have been arrested in Burnham-On-Sea following the theft
of a charity collection box from a High Street shop.
The
men visited Specsavers at lunchtime last Monday to book an appointment
and walked away minutes later with the charity box.
Police
spokesman Wayne Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Friday (August
25th) that two men - one of whom was in his 20s and another in
his 40s - had been arrested in nearby Marine Drive shortly after
the incident at around 1.50pm.
"They
were arrested on suspicion of theft and the possession of a weapon,"
he said.
The
store said the collection box had been full of money for the Highbridge-based
National Blind Children's Society.
