A quad bike rider who was seriously injured in a crash on the outskirts of Burnham-On-Sea this week is starting to recover.

Police spokeswoman Elaine Parr told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Friday afternoon (April 28th) that the rider – a man in his 50s from East Huntspill – was no longer in a critical condition.

“He has broken ribs, a broken shoulder and internal bleeding but is improving and is no longer in a critical condition,” she said.

The quad biker was injured while riding over a bridge on the B3139 on Thursday morning, April 27th, which crosses the M5 motorway.

He was taken to Weston General Hospital with injuries which were initially described by police as “life threatening.”

Police accident investigators were at the scene during Thursday trying to establish a cause for the accident. No other vehicle had been involved.
