Budding young artists who entered Sanders Garden World’s ‘Design a Circus Poster Competition’ have been presented with their prizes at the garden centre in Brent Knoll.
Youngsters from all over Somerset took part in the contest to create a promotional poster to promote Circus Americano, which has its big top at the garden centre and is performing daily shows from now until January 2nd, 2007.
Peter Burks, Managing Director at Sanders Garden World, said: “The entries were of a very high standard and I would like to congratulate all the winners for their excellent designs. The winning posters have been professionally printed and are being displayed at the garden centre this month (December) to help attract people to buy tickets to the circus.”
The winner of the five and under age category was Tabitha Howat, who is now six, from Weston-super-Mare. She was presented with a certificate, a £10 Sanders voucher and four tickets to the recent preview night of Circus Americano.
Liam Phillips, aged eight, from Highbridge, won the six to nine age category and was presented with a certificate, a £10 Sanders voucher and four tickets to the preview night of Circus Americano.
Runners up in the six to nine age category were Michael Weaver, 8, from Banwell and Jasmin Howard, 9, from Burnham-On-Sea. They were both presented with certificates and £5 garden centre vouchers. Ten-year-old Katy Groom, from Weston-super-Mare, won the 10 to 14 age category and runners up in the 10-14 age category were Lucia Parsons, 12, from Midsomer Norton and Cassandra Colebrooke, 10, from Taunton.
All of the winners have had their poster designs professionally printed and displayed at the garden centre to tie in with the Circus Americano shows.
