Plans to modernise Burnham-On-Sea will be discussed at the AGM of the town’s Regeneration Partnership on Wednesday evening (December 6th).

We reported in October how plans to revamp the seafront (pictured) and other parts of the town moved a step closer with the news that £350,000 in regeneration cash had been awarded to the Partnership, with the possibility of several millions to follow.

Wednesday’s AGM of the Regeneration Partnership, which will be held at the Princess Hall in Princess Street, Burnham at 6.30pm, will enable the public to hear more about the work of the group.

The meeting will receive a Report from the Executive Committee on the activities of the Regeneration Partnership, to be presented by Chairman Mike Murphy.

The first Annual Financial Statements will be presented for the period from 27 June 2005 (date of incorporation) to 31 March 2006.

How Burnham's Esplanade could look after regenerationThe meeting will also appoint members of the Executive Committee, who shall be the Directors of the Company, from the voting members of the Regeneration Partnership – Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer and not more than four other individuals, one of whom may fill the role of Secretary of the Company.

Under other business, the chairman will lead a public forum to discuss the way forward for the Partnership and regeneration in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge. Members of the public will also be invited to give their views.

While the AGM is open to the public, only members of the Regeneration Partnership (“Voting Members”) have voting and speaking rights. Members of the public do not have the right to speak unless invited to do so by the Chairperson. Associate membership is open to individuals and organisations and other bodies by application to the Regeneration Partnership.
