An illuminated night-time procession of boats in the waters off Burnham will be one of the highlights of the 2006 Burnham-On-Sea Sailing Club Regatta, to be held over three days in June and July.

The illuminated procession of a dozen boats will leave the town’s pontoon in the River Brue at 10pm on Friday June 30th and then move into Bridgwater Bay and past Burnham.

“Every boat will be lit up, with anything from candle lanterns to outdoor fairy lights – it should be an incredible sight,” Sailing Club Commodore Terry Moule told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Then, on Saturday July 1st, the main yacht races of the weekend get underway between 9.30am and 1pm. Refreshments will be served at the Sailing Club from 12 noon onwards.

At 2pm Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Eric Gill will officially open the club’s recently extended pontoons – to be followed by a barbecue.
