Six-night
blackout along Burnham seafront was caused by blown fuse
An
electrical fault with one of Burnham's decorative illuminations
was probably to blame for a six-night blackout along the town's
seafront this week.
Somerset
County Council's street lighting team were called to the North
Esplanade after seventeen street lights were knocked out between
September 20th and 26th by a mystery fault.
This
plunged much of the seafront into complete darkness between the
pier and jetty.
A
County Council spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Thursday:
"We've tracked the problem down to a simple blown fuse near
the pier, which was probably caused by a fault with one of the
decorative illuminations."
"We
apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank
those people who reported the problem to us."
