Sea shell collectors in for a treat at Burnham-On-Sea in Somerset

-

Shell collectors wandering along Burnham’s beach have been rewarded with some impressive finds this week after the recent heavy storms.

The gales have resulted in a wider than normal range of shells being washed up along several parts of the beach.

Along with limpets, mussels, cuttlefish, tellin and cockle shells, a number of large whelks have been found near Burnham’s pier, as pictured, and further north towards Berrow. The overall range of sea shells washed up along Burnham’s beach has grown in recent years, thanks in part to improved sea water quality.
