Burnham
fundraisers stride out for charity during town's Smile Walk

Colourful
costumes and strong walking shoes were the order of the day when
over 30 Burnham and Highbridge residents took part in a fancy
dress sponsored beach walk on Sunday afternoon (June 25th).
Participants
in the 6km 'Smile Walk' started at Burnham Jetty, then hiked along
the beach to Berrow Golf Course and back.
A
spring was put in their stride by the the King Alfred Band, who
performed a number of stirring tunes at the start of the event.
Organiser
Becky Saunders told Burnham-On-Sea.com she had been "delighted"
with the turnout and thanked all those who has supported the event,
which is expected to have raised several hundreds of pounds for
the Peter Gilliard Memorial School in India.
"The
inspiration for the name of the event - the Smile Walk - was a
wonderful photo of a smiling Indian schoolgirl which really struck
a chord with us."
