Burnham-On-Sea artists enjoy busy start to Somerset Art Weeks
2006

Art
enthusiasts from across the country are flocking to Burnham-On-Sea
this week to visit scores of exhibits during
Somerset Art Weeks 2006.
For a fortnight from September
9th and 24th, artists and makers across Somerset are extending
a warm invitation to the public to visit their homes and studios
- and in the Burnham area there are a dozen locations, listed
below, to visit.
Somerset
Art Weeks has been celebrating the visual arts in Somerset since
1994, and this years biennial festival sees a record 750
artists taking part, giving art lvers the opportunity to see and
buy a rich variety of creative art.
Not
only is there artwork to buy and take home to enjoy but also installations,
land art and interactive exhibitions.
Amongst the artists opening their studios throughout the fortnight
are painters, potters, textile designers, photographers, furniture
makers sculptors, jewellers and many more.

The
Old Piggery
Middle Burnham Farm, Stoddens Lane, Burnham-on-Sea
Images by
7 artists inspired by the coast and sea - to delight the eye and
the emotions. Tea, Coffee, Cakes. Featuring Angela Uren, Jan Olive,
Linda Gee, Sharon Campbell, Roy Wallis, Judith Champion and Mary
Stradling.
Ivy
House
42 Church Street, Highbridge
Nadja McDevitt
and Eileen Long at Ivy House present textural and atmospheric
fine art. Photographic images exploring metamorphosis and man's
relationship with nature, and striking and contemporary mixed
media works using elements of design, fantasy and mythology.
The
Old Manor
164 Brent Street, Brent Knoll
As well as
relishing our wonderful cakes and refreshments, spend time in
our beautiful 18th century barn gallery. Enjoy stimulating art
work, including still life, landscapes, seascapes, interiors,
portraits and ceramics. Featuring the work of Malin Basil, Gene
Deal, David Holl, Malin Basil, Roy Fairchild, Anita Peach and
Bruce Wingate.

Steading
Burton Row, Brent Knoll
Carole
Watson presents richly coloured textiles, embroidered collage,
panels, as well as watercolour paintings of flowers.

Clive Hammond-Lovatt
and Susan Hammond-Lovatt this year celebrate 10 years of successfully
exhibiting during Somerset Art Weeks. The picture shows Clive's
work in an exhibition in Birmingham. To see Sue's latest, bright,
modern paintings you will have to visit!

Anna Nicolaides'
studio produces beautiful handmade bags and unique art. Anna will
be working in her studio during artweeks and will be pleased to
see you.

paintings are in display in oil and bright acrylics, of sea and
landscape, people and flowers.

Richard Franks
presents beautiful, vibrant and unique painted and fired stained
glass panels, original and varied designs by Angie Dibble and
John Lilley. Exquisite and imaginative silver jewellery by Julian
Chatt. Exciting and delightful paintings depicting the underside
of seaside life and much more besides by Richard Franks and Lynda
Perfect.
Sea
Breeze Gallery
37 Victoria Street, Burnham-on-Sea
The gallery
and gift shop present a varied exhibition including photographic
art by Vicky Mills plus digital art by Tim Duke. Sheila Rendell
will show contemporary fused glass inspired by the sea, Louise
James 3D glass images and Sheila Holnes jewellery designs. Other
local artsand crafts include: watercolour and acrylic paintings,
glass engraving, pyrography, pottery, wood, mixed media and stained
glass.

Community Centre

Lighthouse
Arts are a new cooperative of artists from the Burnham area who
are exhibiting a wide variety of original and colourful work,
including ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, drawing in several
media, watercolours, painting both traditional and contemporary,
also very unusual photography.
