MP visits Burnham-On-Sea
artists during county-wide arts event

Burnham-On-Sea
MP David Heathcoat-Amory was in town on Sunday afternoon (September
17th) to visit some of the artists exhibiting their work during
Somerset Art Weeks 2006.
He
visited Phil and Judy Sharp in Stoppard Road to see their impressive
collection of paintings, pastels, prints and photos - and to hear
how they are made.
"It's
amazing to see the amount of talent that exists right across my
constituency," said Mr Heathcoat-Amory. "You
don't need to go to London or Bristol to see top quality artwork.
It's all on show here in Somerset."
For
a fortnight, between September
9th and 24th, artists and makers across Somerset are extending
an invitation to the public to visit their homes and studios -
and in the Burnham area there are a dozen locations, listed
here, to visit.
Somerset Art Weeks has been celebrating the visual arts in Somerset
since 1994, and this years biennial festival sees a record
750 artists taking part, giving art lovers the opportunity to
see and buy a rich variety of creative art.
Amongst
the artists opening their studios throughout the fortnight are
painters, potters, textile designers, photographers, furniture
makers sculptors, jewellers and many more.
