High
tides and strong winds give Burnham-On-Sea
a battering

High tides and strong winds combined to give Burnham a battering
on Thursday morning.
The
town's flood gates at the top of the jetty and Maddock's Slade
were closed by the Environment Agency as a precuation.
Big
waves hit the walls of properties near Atlanta Quay, as pictured,
and further along the coast the dunes were cut back in several
places near the lighthouse.
With
more stormy weather predicted for coming days, these scenes are
likely to repeated throughout the week. This week's Spring tides
are among the highest of the year.
