Fishing
boats and yachts sailing in the waters around Burnham-On-Sea were
warned to take caution when this huge barge sailed past the town
at the weekend.
The
100 metre Terra Marique, pictured here, manoeuvred off Burnham
for about 45 minutes on Saturday morning and was then towed by
a tug, the Voe Viking, up the River Parrett to Combwich.
It
was believed to be picking up heavy power transformer equipment
from Hinkley Point to take away for repair.
With
its cargo safely onboard, the barge passed Burnham-On-Sea again
on Sunday evening when it took advantage of the high evening tide
to continue its passage.
A
Notice to Mariners warning issued to small craft owners said:
"The tug and tow will be very restricted in their ability
to manoeuvre, and all craft must keep well clear at all times."
