The residents of Burnham’s Trinity Rise were still smiling on Friday morning (December 22nd) even though they just missed out on lifting the top prize in GMTV’s nationwide Christmas lights competition.

Earlier in the week, delighted organisers of the festive decorations heard they had advanced to the semi-finals of GMTV’s nationwide competition to find the UK’s best Christmas lights.

GMTV broadcast live from the street on Wednesday, interviewing residents Paula Payne and Roger Flower, and showing the impressive lights to its viewers.

After a 48-hour wait, the winner of the competition was announced on Friday morning’s programme – and it was a house in Brislington, Bristol that pipped Burnham to the top spot.

Residents were not too disappointed, though, and said they were delighted to have progressed to the semi-finals of the competition.

Local charities BARB and the Somerset Children’s Hospice are set to benefit from collections outside decorated homes along the road.
