Burnham-On-Sea
wind farm protestors hit out at poster vandals

Angry
protestors fighting plans to build a wind farm between Brent Knoll
and Burnham-On-Sea say their rights to free speech are being attacked
by vandals who have pulled down scores of their posters in recent
days.
Angry
members of the KNOll to Wind Farm Action Group say "a significant
number" of posters like the one above were pulled down and
broken over the Bank Holiday and Easter weekends.
Andrew
Manning, spokesman for the group, told Burnham-On-Sea.com that
the petty vandalism is an attempt to deny protestors "their
democratic rights."
He
added: "Ever since we first became aware of the proposal
for a wind farm near Burnham-On-Sea, we have seen it as our duty
to participate robustly, but fairly, in the local democratic process,
to ensure, at the very least, that both sides of the argument
for and against wind farms are heard."
"A
number of our supporters have invested in placards expressing
concern at the potential safety risks and visual impact associated
with the proposal, and have chosen to display them in their gardens."
"Clearly,
somebody wishes to deny our supporters their democratic rights,
or doesn't wish their message to be heard, and has chosen to vandalise
a number of these boards."
"We
have informed the local police as, in addition to our democratic
concerns, such acts can involve theft, criminal damage and trespass.
We are very disappointed by such activity."
