MP backs wind farm protesters in visit to Brent Knoll
Burnham-On-Sea's
MP is this week expected to give his backing to protesters fighting
a huge new wind farm being proposed for the outskirts of the town.
David
Heathcoat-Amory (pictured) is scheduled to meet members of the
'KNOll to Wind Farm' pressure group on Friday (February 24th)
to discuss the controversial plans to build five turbines on land
at Edithmead, near Brent Knoll.
The
MP said: "In view of the likely planning application, I am
visiting the site this month to assess the impact on the village
and local residents."
Andy
Manning, spokesman for 'KNOll
to Wind Farm', said he was delighted by the news.
He
told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We're very pleased he's coming to find out more about the
plans and give his support to our campaign. It should gain us
a lot of attention."
The
group received a financial boost over the weekend when a Valentines
Dance and dinner raised more than £3,000 - further boosting
its coffers.
Ecotricity,
the Gloucestershire-based company behind the proposals, is expected
to submit its planning application for the wind farm very shortly.
