Brent
Knoll wind farm application reaches district planners

Controversial
plans for a wind farm on the outskirts of Burnham-On-Sea were
submitted to district planners on Wednesday afternoon.
Burnham-On-Sea.com
exclusively reported on Monday
that the bid would reach planners this week - and that's just
what happened on Wednesday.
A
courier delivered a huge bundle of papers from Ecotricity, the
company behind the scheme, to Sedgemoor District Council in Bridgwater.
Claire
Faun, spokeswoman for the council, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It's
a huge application; the size of a filing cabinet that will take
several days to check and sort through."
"It
will probably be a few months before planners get to decide on
the issue. With all major applications like this, we will spend
a lot of time consulting with all interested parties."
The
huge scheme involves building five wind turbines on land at Edithmead,
near Brent Knoll.
Planners
now have up to 16 weeks before they have to get back to Ecotricity
with a decision - one that could dramatically change the appearance
of the landscape around Burnham.
Included
in today's submission is a brand new photomontage image - pictured
above for the first time - which shows how the wind turbines would
look if the scheme gets the go-ahead.
The
news comes after months of campaigning by the 'kNOll to Wind Farm'
pressure group, which is against the scheme.
A
pro-wind group, FORCE, has backed Ecotricity's proposals, saying
they are in the best interests of the environment.
