Two
local residents set to open Highbridge's new Asda store
The
names of the two local people who will open Asda's brand new store
in Highbridge next Monday, November 5th, has been announced this
week.
Eva
Winslade, from Burnham-On-Sea, and Val Breach of Highbridge had
both nominated each other in the search for a 'true local hero'
to open the brand new multi-million pound store, pictured here.
"Asda
Highbridge were so touched that the two ladies had nominated each
other that they felt the only right thing to do was to invite
them both to attend the stores grand opening as VIPs,"
said store manager David Simcox this week.
"Both
Eva and Val are true pillars of the community: throughout her
life Eva has always been involved in community activities, running
a childrens home in Burnham-On-Sea called York House for
years before becoming a Red Cross Officer, running clubs for elderly
people and organising local events and holidays. Eva is spreading
her kindness even further this Christmas with a trip to Africa,
helping and supporting a childrens charity."
"Val
is in her 80s and is a great inspiration to community as she runs
a very popular bed and breakfast on her own. She supports many
charities and works for the local RSPCA charity shop."
The
two will be at the centre of attention when the store opens on
Monday.
Store
manager David Simcox and his team of more than 180 colleagues
are making final preparations for the big opening day.
Also
at the opening will be stilt walkers, a face painter, a Burnham-On-sea
fire engine, Burnham's Spirit Of Lelaina hovercraft, confetti
cannons and giant sandcastles.
A
class from Highbridge's St John's Primary School class will also
be attending the opening ceremony, kitted out in their very own
Guy Fawkes sparkling costumes.
David
Simcox added: "I am so proud to be heading up ASDAs
newest store in Highbridge, and am extremely excited about opening
the doors to the public on Monday. Asdas a company that
cares about the local community, and we couldnt ask for
a better one than here in Highbridge! Ive got an amazing
team behind me and we cant wait to welcome customers."
