Housing developer's sign blitz angers Burnham-On-Sea councillors

House developer Barratt has angered Burnham-On-Sea councillors this week by installing no fewer than 23 advertising signs along a three mile stretch of road on the outskirts of the town.

The company has erected the bright yellow signs, pictured, along the A38 to promote a new housing development in Highbridge.

The signs appear every few hundred metres from Burnham's M5 motorway junction at Edithmead to Church Street in the centre of Highbridge.

Town Council Clerk Eileen Shaw told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It's a ridiculous number of signs."

"We've contacted Somerset County Council and they're taking up the matter directly with Barratt."
