Stranded
van pulled to safety on Burnham-On-Sea beach

Burnham-On-Sea's
sinking sand and mud caught out another motorist on Sunday evening
(October 21st) when a vehicle became trapped and had to be pulled
free, as pictured here.
Mark
Fitzpatrick from Tipton in the West Midlands became stranded when
his Transit van's wheels sank into the soft sand near the town's
jetty.
Fortunately,
members of Burnham Boat Owners Association were nearby at the
time, having just returned from a day's fishing, and their tractor
was called into action to pull the van free - in return for a
small fee.
The
Association's Simon Stroud told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We were
happy to help. It's so easy for the soft sand to catch motorists
out if they are unfamilar with this beach."
The
latest incident is one of several involving stranded vehicles
during the last few months. Just two
weeks ago, a car was pulled to safety on Burnham beach, and
in August
a car at Brean was saved in a race against the tide.
