Burnham
and Highbridge Christmas lights competition winners unveiled

This
colourfully decorated house has been named the winner of Burnham-On-Sea's
annual Christmas lights competition.
A
group of judges from Burnham and Highbridge town council have
been touring around both towns in recent days to find the best
illuminated houses and shop windows.
In
Burnham, first prize went to Paula and Graham Payne of 1 Trinity
Close. The judges described their display as "a delicate,
stylish and thoughtful display,
with a creative seasonal theme."

broke the good news to Paula on Friday evening (December 21st),
who said: "This is wonderful news - we're delighted to win.
There are some superb displays out there this year."
Second spot in Burnham went to Mike
and Denise Perrin
of 7 Wilde Close, which the judges said is "a festive feast
of imaginative colour." The award for best joint effort has
gone to Mr and Mrs Smith and Mr and Mrs Gardner of 2 and 3 Trinity
Close. Their display was decribed as
"a simply outstanding and vibrant combination full of energy,
whilst retaining a Christmas theme."
In
Highbridge, first prize went to Mr and Mrs Bale of 54 Poplar Estate,
whose display (pictured) was described by the judges as "well
balanced and fun, with a sense of style."
Second was Ms Cross and Mr Riston at 7 Blake's Crescent, which
the judges described as "simple, but effective."
The
best joint effort in Highbridge was Mr and Mrs Cross and Mr and
Mrs Adams, 75 and 76 Church Street which was described by the
judges as "a plethora of colour and energy."
The
best business effort in both towns went to Salisburys Florists
of the High Street in Burnham. Those judging the contest said
its display was a "beautiful, elegant display."
Cllr Dennis Davey judged the Commerial Lights for businesses and
Cllr Joe Leach, Cllr Pete Clayton, Cllr Pat Burge and Cllr Danny
Titcombe judged the houses.
