Cyclist
injured in road accident in Highbridge town centre
A
cyclist was taken to hospital with suspected back and head injuries
after being knocked down in a road accident in the centre of Highbridge
on Thursday evening (August 30th).
Police
officers and ambulance crews rushed to the roundabout on the corner
of Market Street and Church Street.
Paramedics
treated the cyclist, who was described by eyewitnesses as a middle-aged
man, at the scene before he was placed onto a stretcher and taken
to Weston General Hospital by ambulance.
Eyewitnesses
told Burnham-On-Sea.com that the collision occurred at around
7.10pm. Police diverted traffic around the scene, but avoided
fully closing the road.
