Burnham-On-Sea police launch crackdown against town drugs dealers

Burnham-On-Sea police have this week warned drug dealers in the town that there is no place to hide after a series of warrants were carried out.

During the last four weeks four warrants have been carried out in the Abingdon Street, Smith Way, Huntspill Road and Worston Lane areas with four people arrested for drugs offences and two cautions given.

In each case what is believed to be cannabis has been found with suspected Class A drugs also found at Huntspill Road.

In the latest raid on Wednesday (November 28th) officers carried out a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at an address in Worston Lane.

An 18-year-old man was arrested from the property and currently remains in custody at Bridgwater Police Station.

And officers are warning there is no let up for those involved in the dealing, use and misuse of illegal substances.

Neighbourhood Inspector Dale Baker said: "We are committed to making our communities safer and stronger and a big part of that is working with the local people to deal with those involved in drugs."

"Intelligence from the community is vital in helping us to target warrants and arrest those who are using and misusing drugs."

"As well as finding drugs and arresting people, we aim to deal with the associated crime linked to drugs and making both Burnham and Highbridge a safer place as a result."

"I would encourage anyone who believes they have dealing or drug use going on where they live to contact police and help us to help you."
