Police in Highbridge are appealing for information after a suspicious fire at a block of flats in the town.

At around 7.30pm on Sunday (February 4th) unknown offenders gained access to a ground floor flat at Gulliford Close and tampered with a gas meter before setting a fire against it.

DC Paul Anson told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Thankfully, the alarm was raised and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was called before the blaze spread.”

“As a result, only minor damage was caused and nobody was injured.”

“Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Gulliford Close at the time or may have witnessed the offenders breaking into the flat.”

It comes just days after a suspicious barn fire at Berrow, reported by Burnham-On-Sea.com at the time. Police are not ruling out a link between the incidents and several other suspicious fires in our area.
