Spectacular seafront fireworks display planned for Burnham-On-Sea

Organisers
of Burnham-On-Sea's spectacular seafront fireworks display are
making final preparations for this year's event, which will take
place on Sunday 11th November, starting at 7.00pm.
For
the second year running, the display will be operated from a platform
on the jetty since high tide will be at 7.28pm.
"Not
only will the night sky be ablaze with colour and effects but
that aerial wizardry will be reflected in the water to effectively
double the glittering spectacle," said Linda Krause from
Sedgemoor District Council, which is putting on the display with
fireworks company Skyburst.
"Skyburst
intends to showcase a fantastic new range of colours & effects
specially designed for Burnham and will also be firing aquatic
shells onto the water producing carpets of colour and effects."
The
music accompanying the fireworks will be based around a classical,
maritime, theme and for the finale there will be a special mark
of respect and tribute commemorating Remembrance Sunday.
The
public viewing area will be from The Esplanade, with the beach
forming part of the exclusion zone although the organisers say
this may be extended at short notice depending on weather factors
on the night.
The
jetty will be closed all day to all vehicular traffic, bar emergency
vehicles, to allow for the set-up. There will be a temporary road
closure along The Esplanade, between the Tourist Information Centre
and Adam Street, and for Pier Street, from 6.45-7.45pm. Wessex
Ambulance Services will be on duty provide first aid cover.
The
event is sponsored by Sedgemoor District Council together with
Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council. It is a free display
with a collection for local charities.
A
colourful Latin Market will also be in place along The Esplanade
during the day on Sunday and on Carnival Monday between 9.00am
and 5.00pm.
