Record
catch at start of Burnham fishing group's angling season
The
winter fishing season in Burnham-On-Sea got off to a record-breaking
start this week when a huge Bull Huss was reeled in.
Andy
Georgiou caught the 11lb 2oz fish during the first event of the
season for members of Burnham Boat Owners Sea Angling Association.
The
catch has been confirmed as a new club record - which is all the
more impressive because the organisation was formed in 1976.
A
flotilla of more than a dozen boats took to the sea for the event,
the Tony Holly Trophy.
The
seniors competition was won by Mark Draper with a Conger weighing
29lb, while second spot went to Mr Georgiou for his Bull Huss.
Third
was Steve George, who caught a Conger weighing 24lb 8oz, while
fourth spot was taken by Chris Evans with a Thornback of 12lb
5oz. Mark Draper won the Conger pool, while Tony Tandy won the
Bass pool.
Young
Ricky Heathcoat, pictured below, was named the winner of the Victoria
Winter Trophy in the youngsters' competition, having caught a
dogfish weighing 1lb 14oz.
