Burnham
MP determined to see Foley Parkway saga resolved in 2008

The
long-running saga over completion of Burnham-On-Sea's Frank Foley
Parkway must not be allowed to run on for another 12 months without
resolution, the town's MP has said this week.
In
a statement released on Friday (December 21st), David
Heathcoat-Amory said: "I am determined that yet another
year will not go by without bringing sense to Burnhams road
network."
Having
had no reply from Somerset County Council to his letter sent on
15th November - as originally reported
here - Mr Heathcoat-Amory has followed this up by directly
contacting council officers to get an update on when the Parkway
will be completed.
"It
seems that a contribution from the developers to the Radio Station
site will be made available for this scheme, which should allow
for completion of the missing link," he said.
"Contributions
from previous developments have been diverted elsewhere and there
has been a scandalous lack of interest by Somerset County Council
in completing this scheme."
"However,
it now seems that funds may be made available from the new Radio
Station development and I will be pressing the County Council
very hard to spend the money on completing the missing link."
"I
am determined that yet another year will not go by without bringing
sense to Burnhams road network to relieve congestion and
fulfil a long standing promise."
