'Outrage'
as graffiti vandals attack Burnham-On-Sea's Manor Gardens
Graffiti
vandals have attacked Manor Gardens in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea,
painting messages across walls, benches and even tree trunks.
Angry
local residents contacted Burnham-On-Sea.com this week about the
"outrage" after spotting the half-term vandalism in
Manor Gardens.
The
attack comes just days after Burnham-On-Sea.com was first to report
similar graffiti attacks on the town's sea
wall and under Burnham pier.
Local
resident Brian Nicholls contacted Burnham-On-Sea.com after walking
through the gardens at the weekend.
"Graffiti
has been scrawled across walls, tree trunks and even a commemorative
bench - it's disgusting. These people clearly have nothing better
to do," said Brian.
"The
state of the gardens has been very poor for months, and it seems
to be getting worse all the time. It's currently an embarrassment,"
he said.
Burnham-On-Sea
and Highbridge Town Council says cleaners will be getting the
problem sorted out early this week.
"I
have an assurance that the graffiti will be steam cleaned away
this week," said town clerk Eileen Shaw on Monday (October
29th).
Burnham-On-Sea.com
understands police are considering introducing mobile CCTV cameras
at the park in a fresh bid to stamp out the problems of anti-social
behaviour there.
