Delighted youngsters at Highbridge Community Youth Club were celebrating on Friday night (March 9th) after being handed a £250 cash boost.

Somerset County councillor Rosemarie Parsons, who represents Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea South, presented the money towards the purchase of new play equipment at the centre.

Gill Udall, who set up the centre in Pearce Drive last year, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re delighted with the money – it will be used to buy the club a new air hockey table, which all the children are really looking forwards to using!”

The donation is part of the annual £5,000 which each County Councillor is given to promote and assist community activity in their divisional areas.

Cllr Parsons has also given money towards a St John’s School garden project, the Regeneration Project’s Community Volunteer Day, a King Alfred School youth project, and Highbridge Children’s Centre.
