Crowds
line Burnham seafront for illuminated yachts sail-past
An
impressive fireworks display and sail-by
of illuminated yachts attracted
a crowd of more than 3,000 people to Burnham-On-Sea's Esplanade
on Friday evening (August 3rd).
The
display involved 23 yachts from Burnham Sailing Club, all of which
were lit up with colourful lights.
Big
crowds lined
the seafront -
several people deep in places - to watch the spectacle, which
was held as part of Burnham's nine-day regatta week.
This
year, fireworks were included in the event for the first time,
thanks to a donation from Burnham Sailing Club. Several bursts
of bright firework lit up the skies around the southern end of
The Esplanade, as pictured here.
Organiser
John Clist told Burnham-On-Sea.com he was delighted with how the
event had gone.
"We
had a slight delay at the start because the Arco Dart dredger
came through the bay slightly later than expected, but apart from
that everything went very well and everyone had a great time."
"The
fireworks looked superb both from the water and the seafront too.
I applaud all those yacht owners who took part for their help
- it was a great display."
