Highbridge's
King Alfred School celebrates its 50th anniversary

Over
200 former pupils and staff from Highbridge's King Alfred School
gathered together to celebrate its 50th anniversary this week.
The
school organised a special open evening on Thursday (July 19th)
which included a nostalgic look back at its history and the publication
of a 'memories book' featuring stories from former pupils and
staff.
The
school opened on its present site in 1957 and earlier this year
appealed through Burnham-On-Sea.com for memories from anyone who
had been associated with it.
During
this week's celebrations, a time capsule containing a school uniform
and other familiar school items was sealed and it will be buried
later this year.
