Vandals cause damage at Burnham-On-Sea's Marine Cove gardens

Vandals smashed windows and caused damage to shelters and benches at a Burnham-On-Sea public garden during the early hours of Friday (January 12th).

Police officers are now investigating CCTV footage of the Marine Cove attack to see whether the perpetrators have been caught on camera.

Sector Deputy Sgt Roger Tolley told on Friday that the vandals had caused "wanton vandalism" and would be found.

"We will be checking CCTV footage and investigating whether criminal damage has been carried out here."

A separate attack in June last year saw two youths arrested after paving stones were ripped up in a night time vandalism attack. reported last year how Marine Cove is earmarked to receive a huge cash injection to transform it.

An application for £250,000 of lottery grant money is being submitted and a sum of £40,000 is already in Sedgemoor District Council's budget to renovate the facility and restore it to its former glory. A cafe could even be introduced at the site.
