Burnham-On-Sea MP steps up pressure for completion of Foley Parkway

Burnham's MP Heathcoat-Amory has this week piled pressure on Somerset County Council to complete construction of the town's Frank Foley Parkway.

The unfinished road, pictured here, should run between Burnham’s Love Lane and Highbridge’s Pepperall Road, but the stretch marked in yellow has never been completed.

The MP has stepped up his efforts together with Burnham and Highbridge Town Council to get the County Council to complete the road.

"My patience over the delay in completion of this stretch of road is now exhausted," said Mr Heathcoat-Amory this week.

"When I have raised this with the County Council in the past I found a complete lack of determination or interest and I now want answers."

"Anyone looking at the road map of the area with this incomplete section would conclude that it had been planned by lunatics."

"Money has been collected from developers which has not been spent on the road and meanwhile traffic congestion continues to increase on the main road linking Burnham and Highbridge."

"I am therefore writing again to the County Council in parallel with a letter from the Burnham and Highbridge Town Council which is also pressing for a solution to this long-running problem."

The MP visited the site and walked the route of the unfinished road last year to see the problem at ground level.
