Burnham-On-Sea MP praises postal workers during visit to sorting office

MP David Heathcoat-Amory and district councillor Arthur Thorogood praised busy postal workers in Burnham-On-Sea this week when they visited the town's Postal Sorting Office.

Mr Heathcoat-Amory met managers and staff at the depot in Dunstan Road and even gave them a hand sorting some of the thousands of Christmas post which pass through every day at this time of the year (as pictured below).

Mr Heathcoat-Amory said: "I send about twenty letters every day to my constituents, so Royal Mail is absolutely vital to me."

"After visiting this office I can see why the postal service in Somerset is so much better than in London where, from my own personal experience, I am aware that the mail is often late and the service inefficient."

"I try not to overlook Royal Mail, and all the other essential services that we rely on, not just at Christmas but all through the year."

"Burnham Sorting Office is the biggest in my constituency and although I offered to help out whilst I was there, the staff are so efficient that there was virtually nothing left for me to do."
