Fireworks lit up the sky around Burnham-On-Sea at midnight today when revellers across the town celebrated the start of 2007.

Stormy weather seen earlier on New Year’s Eve failed to hit the celebrations locally.

Music lovers marked the start of 2007 with a range of events. Popular local group The Ginger Hitlas (pictured) attracted crowds to The Ritz Club, while Snappa entertained revellers into the small hours at The Old Pier Tavern with a mix of popular music ranging from The Beatles to Oasis.

At The Tavern in Brean Leisure Park, revellers said farewell to 2006 with a dinner and dance featuring live music from Union Gap.
