Fire

home on Friday evening (November 30th) after a major blaze damaged
25 rooms.
Two
elderly residents at Hillview Nursing Home in Berrow Road were
rescued by firefighters after fire broke out in a first floor

The
room at the centre of the blaze received 95% damage from heat
and smoke, and 25 other rooms at the property were damaged by
heat, smoke and water.
"The
building was evacuated from the ground floor and two elderly people
were rescued from the first floor, which was smoke logged,"
a fire spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com at the scene.
Fire
crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for people and hot
spots.
They
tackled the blaze using three hose reel jets and six breathing
apparatus before ventilating the building using two positive pressure
fans.
Two
appliances from Burnham attended, along with two engines from
Bridgwater, a Command Support Unit from Street, and an Incident
Support Unit from Taunton.

The
