Christmas
burglary warning issued by Burnham-On-Sea
police
Police
in Burnham-On-Sea have launched a bid to stamp out Christmas burglaries
by issuing a timely warning about how to safely dispose of gift
wrappings and rubbish.
Acting
Police Sergeant Mike Whatley and Police Community Support Officer
Gill Udal are working with Highbridge Household Recycling Centre
to combat post-Christmas crime.
The
message comes as part of a police operation to beat seasonal burglaries
called 'Operation Relentless on Burglary' across the force area.

Whatley said: "We would appeal to everyone not to leave their
boxes out after Christmas Day and give a prospective thief a clue
about what might be in your home."
"If
you have been fortunate to have a new DVD player, TV or games
console, we would like you to keep it and not let it fall into
the wrong hands."
"If
you take your rubbish along to a recycling depot it is also a
greener way to get rid of your Christmas waste, as well as not
making yourself a target for burglars."
