Burnham-On-Sea police officer injured as 30 youths clash in town
centre

A
Burnham-On-Sea police officer was injured while trying to break
up a fight involving 30 youths in the centre of the town on Friday
night (January 26th).
As
these photos show, the incident took place in Pier Street outside
the town's Somerfield supermarket at 10.20pm.
Four
teams of police were sent to the scene to break up the scuffle,
and an officer suffered minor head injuries.
A
police spokesman confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Police
were called at 10.30pm to the vicinity of Pier Street to reports
of 30 youths fighting."
"When
they arrived, they found a disturbance in progress and one male
was taken into custody. During the incident, one of our officers
sustained minor injuries."
It was confirmed on Saturday that a youth had been charged with
resisting arrest and a section 5 public order offence in connection
with this incident.
